Lab Exercise 2

Topic 2: Setting Up Your Web Site

 

Prerequisites:

1.  Create a folder on your desktop called "Exercise2".  This will be your root folder for your site

 

2.  In your Exercise 2 folder, create a sub folder called "images".  You will be storing all your photos and multi-media files in this folder.

 

Requirements:

1.   Define a New Web Site:   Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation (slides 5- 8)


a. In Dreamweaver, create a new site called "LMC Brentwood Burger".


b. Select the Local Site folder which is the folder you created above.

 

2.   Create a New Web Page:   Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation (slides 9-11)

 

3.  Add a Title to a Web Page:   Add the title "LMC Brentwood Burger" to your Web page.  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation (slides 12- 15)

 

4.  In the Document window, type "Welcome to the Best Steak Burger Diner in Brentwood" (slide 16)

 

5. Save a Web Page:  Save your Web page as index.html.  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation (slides 17- 21)

 

6.  Export your site.  Go to Files panel.  Select Manage Site.  Highlight the "LMC Brentwood Burger" site and click on the Export button.  Save the file in same root site folder .  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation (slides 24- 26)

 

7.  Preview your Web page in a Browser:   Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation (slides 27- 30). Attached is the sample output web page. 

 

Submit: 

a.     Launch the page through your browser in step #7 and submit a screenshot of the page

 

b.    Zip up your folder and submit on the Canvas Assignment Exercise 2 drop box.. The folder should contain the index.html, the images folder and the LMC Brentwood Burger.ste files.
