Lab Exercise 3

Topic 3: Adding and Styling Text

Prerequisites:

1.  Open the text file - hours.txt

2.  Create a site folder on your desktop called Exercise3.

3.  In Dreamweaver, create a Manage Site.  Point the Site to your Exercise3 folder.  See step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation (slides 5-8) in defining a Web site.

4.  Create a new Web page and save it as hours.html in your Site root folder.   See step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation (slides 9-11) in creating a new web page.

5. Add a Title to the Web page:   Add the title "LMC Brentwood Burger- Hours" to your Web page.   See step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation in adding the page title (slides 14- 15).

Requirements:

1.  Copy Text from Another Document:  Copy and paste the text in the hours.txt into your new Web page- hours.html.   Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in Topic 3 lecture presentation (slides 4- 9)

2.  Create Paragraphs:  In the Web page, adjust and align the paragraphs.   Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 3 lecture presentation (slides 10-18)

3.  Create a Heading.  In your Web page, add the h1, h2 and h5 heading levels.  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 3 lecture presentation (slides 19-25)

4.  Insert Line Breaks:  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 3 lecture presentation (slides 26-28)

5.  Indent Paragraph:   Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 3 lecture presentation (slides 29-31)

6.  Create Unordered Lists.   In your Web page, add a bullet list for the diner's holiday hours.  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 3 lecture presentation (slides 32-38)

7.  Insert Special Characters:    Add the trademark symbol for the company name.  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 3 lecture presentation (slides 39-46)

8.  Save your hours.html document.  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation (slides 17-22) in saving a Web page.

9. Preview your Web page in the Browser.   Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation (slides 27-30) in previewing a Web page in Dreamweaver.

10. Verify all specification requirements above have been applied.   See attached sample output of the Web page

 

Submit: 
1. Submit a screenshot image of the Web page displaying in your Browser on the
Canvas Exercise 3 drop box.

2. Zip up your folder and submit on the Canvas Exercise 3 drop box. The folder should contain the hours.html.
