Topic 9: Creating and Using Library Items

 

Prerequisites:
1.   Save the attach AssignmentExercise9.zip file on your desktop.  Unzip the files into the root site folder.

2.   Define the "LMC Brentwood Burger" site in Dreamweaver.   See step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 2 lecture presentation (slides 5-8) in defining a Web site

Requirements:

1. Create a Library Item:  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 9 lecture presentation (slides 13- 17) in creating the library item for the navigation menu and company banner from the index.html

a.   Create the library item for navigation menu.  Save the library item as navigation.lbi

b.   Create the library item for the company banner.   Save the library item as companybanner.lbi

 

2.  Insert a Library Item:  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 9 lecture presentation (slides 21- 26) in inserting the navigation menu and company banner library items into the index, menu, hours and direction Web pages.

a.  Insert the library items in the menu.html page.

b.  Insert the library items in the hours.html page.

c.  Insert the library items in the direction.html page.

d.  Insert the library items in the feedback.html page

 

3.  Edit and Update a Library Item to Your Web Site:  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 9 lecture presentation (slides 30- 36) in updating the following:

a.  navigation menu library item- insert a spacer image, insert the Promo button image

b.  navigation menu library item - add all navigation links.

c.  company logo - insert the new revised company logo image

 

4.  View a Library Item:  Follow the step-by-step demo instructions in the Topic 9 lecture presentation (slides 9- 10) to view the library items that you created.

 

5   Save your documents.

 

6.  Review your Web pages in your Browser.   Test the navigation menu and links.   See the attached sample output of the Web pages- index.html, menu.html, hours.html, directions.html and feedback.html

 

 

Submit: 

1. Submit a screenshot images of the Web pages displaying in your Browser on the Canvas Exercise 9 drop box.

2. Zip up your folder and submit in the Canvas Exercise 9 drop box.
